Privacy policy
Last updated October 7, 2026
This policy explains what Refract collects, why, and what you can do about it. Refract is run by [your name or business name], Singapore. Contact: refract.creators@gmail.com.
The short version
- The writing tools run in your browser. Your ideas, weeks, and style settings are saved on your device, not on Refract’s servers, unless you turn on Pro sync.
- For AI video analysis, your video file never leaves your device. Your browser takes a few still frames, and only those frames and the text you type are sent to the AI to write your results.
- Refract has no advertising and no tracking cookies, and doesn’t sell your data.
What Refract stores, and why
| Data | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Ideas, weeks, style settings, and saved analyses | So your work is there when you come back | Your browser. With Pro, also your account, so it syncs across devices. |
| Email address and sign-in method (Google or email) | To create your account and sign you in | Supabase, Refract’s sign-in and database provider |
| Name and country, both optional | To greet you and show prices in your currency | Supabase |
| How many AI analyses and rewrites you used each day | To apply your plan’s daily limits | Supabase |
| Subscription status, billing period, currency, and renewal date | To give Pro to paying customers | Supabase and Stripe |
| Calendar feed address and shared weeks (Pro) | So your calendar app and the people you share with can see your plan | Supabase, until you turn them off or remove them |
Refract never sees or stores your card details. Stripe handles payments and keeps payment records as the law requires.
AI features
When you analyze a video, your browser takes still frames from it. Refract sends those frames, any notes or script you type, the apps you chose, and your style settings to Anthropic, which makes the Claude AI model, to write your results. When you use AI rewrites, Refract sends the line you want rewritten and your style settings. Refract doesn’t keep the frames or the text after the response comes back. Anthropic processes this data under its own commercial terms and privacy policy.
Link import
When you paste a link, Refract’s server asks the platform’s official embed service (and, for YouTube, the YouTube Data API when it’s switched on) for the post’s public title, caption, and cover image. Refract doesn’t download the video and doesn’t keep the link.
Cookies and browser storage
Refract uses your browser’s local storage for your work, your preferences, and your sign-in session. There are no advertising or analytics cookies. Pages load fonts from Google Fonts, and the sign-in pages load a code library from jsDelivr; those services receive your IP address when your browser requests the files.
Service providers
- Supabase: sign-in and database
- Stripe: payments and billing
- Anthropic: the AI model behind video analysis and rewrites
- Google: sign in with Google (only if you choose it), and fonts
- Hostinger: hosts the website
Keeping and deleting your data
You can delete your account at any time from Account in the app. That cancels any subscription right away and deletes your profile, synced workspace, usage counts, share links, and calendar feed from Refract’s servers. Work saved only in your browser stays there until you delete it in Your style or clear your browser data. You can download a backup of your work from Your style at any time.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to how it’s used. Most of this you can do yourself in the app. For anything else, email refract.creators@gmail.com.
Children
Refract isn’t meant for children under 13, or under the minimum age for online services where they live. Don’t create an account for a child.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. If a change matters, Refract will tell signed-in users before it takes effect.
